If You Lived at the Time of the American Revolution by Kay Moore
This is a rather lengthy book, but it gives many details and facts about the American Revolution. It is filled with tons of different questions and then each chapter answers these questions. Some of these questions include “Who started the Revolution?” and “How did people get food and clothing?” I really like this book because it has such great pictures for students to enjoy while reading. This book includes a table of contents and a section of famous individuals throughout the American Revolution.

Great Women of the American Revolution by Michael Burgan

This book is solely dedicated to explaining and describing the role of women in the American Revolution. It explains the importance of women during this time period. This book informs the reader that women did go to war and some were involved in politics. I really liked that this book has a glossary, a list of important dates, a list of important people, and a fun “did you know” section.

The Minutemen by Lucia Raatma

The Minutemen defines and describes the Minutemen who fought during the first battle in the American Revolutionary War. This book gives the time period of the American Revolution and shows the reader the thirteen American colonies who fought in this war. I really liked how there are pictures throughout this book of actors today who dressed as both British redcoats and Minutemen.

George Washington’s Teeth by Deborah Chandra & Madeleine Comora
Our first president, George Washington, is known for many different things and some believe that he did in fact have a set of wooden teeth. This humorous story tells how this belief is just a myth and it also includes pieces of letters, diaries, and other historical records concerning Washington’s life. This story is very informational and includes many excellent illustrations as well.
